MUSIC VIDEO CAMPAIGN
Josh Emerick & Ross Theisen
Sera Safe TEAM,
Our main objective is to craft the next phase and evolution of Sera Safe through a large volume video campaign. Visually we want to really lean into an artsy and next-level feel for all the visuals while still paying respect to what's already been established.
With all the past small efforts our biggest hope in this proposal is to find an investment that lets JECP and Sera Safe build a stronger relationship and officially bring SS into the JECP roster. This project has a ton of potential and we ultimately want to figure out what options feels best moving forward!
The goal with all videos is to tell one cohesive story throughout, but not exactly following the same timeline scene by scene. AKA, it’s a full-circle story where the finale of the last video would technically start in the first video. This is sort of a rebrand for the band, trying to leave behind their old aesthetic a little bit, but keep certain aspects as they move forward. Basically, an evolution starting point is what they're aiming for with these new songs/videos. While the goal is to keep minimal band shots in these they will remain a backbone, so we are keeping the members as a marketing aspect while producing a more creative, story-driven film campaign, balancing practical and creative strategy.
PROPOSAL ONE | Full Campaign covering all three music videos, production, and art department costs, and location scouting. Come be an artist and we'll map out all the details!
PROPOSAL TWO | Weekend production covering two music videos and traditional deliverables with a more collaborative approach to producing leaving production and location on us and, actors, MUA, and art-related cost on SS Team.
PROPOSAL THREE | This is really a per video price, covering a single day of production and us handling production on a more simple scale with SS Team providing location, actors, etc. This lets you manage cost easier but have way more heavy lifting to handle.
The setting is to be a club (Skully’s) OR a figurative version of a club with dark fall off around the character but with club-like lighting everywhere + extras (OHD). We will lean into sexual-cult-horror vibes, something like you’d see in AHS (gimp suit man, etc) Have certain extras in the crowd staring at characters, dressed or painted in black to showcase they’re not normal.
Bathroom scene of the main character having done drugs. Have “temptress” like characters fitting the aesthetic style being around him showing the toxicity of something taking over you.
House location. This video is half music video half high-level visualizer as we want to showcase simply scenes of a post-crime scene, insinuating this is right after someone was found having killed themselves. Less story-based, more eye-pleasing of creating cool-looking shots scenes. Likely many tight shots of things showcasing the scene. Colorful video letting lighting is surreal in rooms/scenes. Play with police lighting effects here. Solo band member shots more shadow/silhouettes than anything. Would love to shoot some band outside the house paired with cool lighting in the windows.
We feel like this one leans into what we did with the stream videos with the idea being, let’s create some cool, unnerving but artsy frames for this one.
Lots of use of demon characters established in the first videos. Needs more established and we can chat over it in our call to refine this creative treatment. Some possible VFX work, timing out certain scenes with parts of the song, more artsy shots than anything set in “real world” although using some possible woods stuff with a similar idea we had for a beat character and cult-like group.
No set ideas here other than weird/cryptic things that tell a secondary story that subtly shows tie-in to the main video's story. We like the idea of these being simpler and found-footage, with the lead videos getting the production focus of being the main pieces. For example, a visualizer has insinuated dashcam footage from the police car that pulls up to the house located in the 2nd video, and we see the demon character hidden in the shot/sneaking out of the house after having caused the person to kill themselves.
These are only a part of Proposal One.
HOW WE DO,
WHAT WE DO
Every project takes a similar approach to create success. The biggest factor is staying clear and transparent in communication. Both parties want a project to work smoothly. We aim to reduce stress and answer questions, so we are in the most creative production mindset. Pre-production requires syncing everyone’s schedules, securing gear, locations, and freelancers, as well as preparing wardrobe, MU, and props. We run a tight ship with to-do’s for all parties and that’s how we deliver such consistent projects and experiences for our clients. Our ask is that clients respect the process and help us gather information and confirm along the way. Let’s make it a win-win scenario.
We love camera systems that pack a punch, move the day along with little hesitation and look beautiful. This project has a few variations that we feel the RED Scarlet 5k system will handle best. Being able to switch between 24fps for performances at the standard motion to 48fps for talent and b-roll as well as 120fps for super slow motion all while staying in 4k resolution makes this the camera of choice.
Pairing this with wireless video to the monitor will keep the day moving fast. We're either going to add anamorphic lensing or filtration for the flaring and softness in examples for a top tier cinematic feel.
We are keeping the lighting kit simple, lightweight, and packaged for travel. This will keep the project moving fast, allow more creative control, and let everyone work comfortably.
We run our sets on a clean and fast time frame. We ask that clients be respectful of the schedule, but understanding that perfection can take time. Work with us, and we will all create the best project. We try to stay on schedule while being open to ideas that can make the project its best.
Internally we work through our rough cut to a fine cut for clients to fast track a single set of revisions. We can prioritize one piece over the other into a list we work down. 30-60 days turnaround time with one round of revisions. Bills at $100/hr with additional revisions.
See each package for a specific breakdown of contents and differentiation. The list below is a general approach for base-level JECP projects.

Borrowing from lighting, character, and the grit of this film to juxtapose a typical color palette that feels sensual with filth to create tension for viewers.
We love the details in cinematography, lighting, and location feels. We want to do something similar but focus more on creative lighting, imagery that feels reflective.
From performance to styling and character-building this feels like the peak of what we hope to achieve in this campaign but finding Sera Safe's new chapter.

In taking on this project at a discounted rate, we want to clarify why, deeper than doing a favor. Ultimately we see value in the Sera Safe brand and with this being a rather large, heavy art-driven project, we know we will shine in producing this not only in a high-level artistic sense, but it gives us all a chance to create long term consistency with the Sera Safe brand.
We realize the budgets are high but are also gifting various days and efforts in pre-productions and post-production to make it a win-win and be a true re-investment into JECP as one project we see as a breakthrough to our 2022 year.
review. decide. Sign.
Take some time to look the full proposal over together, ask questions, and on our next call, we can dig into the nitty-gritty. We can decide which option suits you best and draw up the invoice, contract, and other paperwork needed to make it official during this call.
Once we have an agreement, we officially enter pre-production, setting dates, securing locations, props, gear, team, and all the small things in between.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. We're are eager to build something special for the Sera Safe team and hope for one of these sticks!
DP + Producer
"They excel at so many things; it's almost scary.
The amount of planning they put into every project is unmatched.
It's comforting to see how much they care about the project
and how every single detail is thought out well before the shoot date."
