DEAD GLOW TEAM,

Our main objective is to build a project that supports the upcoming music releases and bridge a new relationship and growth for the internal team at Dead Glow, supporting Sean as the Director and JECP as the production partner.

We have built two proposals that allow us to move forward in different ways. Either option lets us move the needle forward and build together, which is the ultimate goal.

OVERVIEW

With the dynamic being different, this proposal is focused on sharing the conversation Sean and I had, the hard logistical costs, and how we can move forward into the true pre-production process that Sean and I will refine.

The key takeaways are that we are focused on making the band look great, refining the story points, implementing yellow, a great location, and planning this well together.

I have added imagery from reference films and my general creative. The two proposals reflect two ways we can move forward. Proposal one supports a slightly larger crew, more cushion to gear rentals to save time, and gives more deliverables including BTS. The second proposal is more stripped in crew and gear, which will limit creative downline, but we can still build within those limitations.

CREATIVE

Josh's Loose Creative

with the song being about growing up and the dynamics of children to adults shifting, I feel a strong universal story could be how we can't always be strong and due in fact need a support system.

Building this film within a house location or school-like setting would help cement it in reality and still be creative. Between band and story, we can implement color matching from lighting and bring two characters on a journey.

An arc would be that two characters are attached via rope, chain or something bonding them with one starting as deadweight or holding the leader back. As the journey continues the leader gets weaker and starts losing composure/strength and eventually the deadweight lifts him up and carries him along. The journey could be through the house, to the house, or completely separate, but the underlying message is that people sometimes carry others and at other points, they need to be carried.

Color/Cinematography

Yellow will be our lead color for this film, much like the inspiration in the BM music video. In addition to lighting, we can create some practical effects with glass/prism for band shots to make them more interesting and use it as an idea of distortion to reality.

Characters

While I'm open to the characters being whatever, I think finding a way to make them faceless/covered would feel more impactful to the action vs who the people are. If we do show the characters I would love to find an older cast so it feels more pro than hiring a friend. I also think we could get creative with the attire to make it feel unique. We could borrow from a favorite film (ex: if we liked Bladerunner that film has a whole universe and style, we could borrow that look to create this universe or if we loved a knights tale this could have a more mid-century look).

HOW WE DO,

WHAT WE DO

PROCESS

Every project takes a similar approach to create success. The biggest factor is staying clear and transparent in communication. Both parties want a project to work smoothly. We aim to reduce stress and answer questions, so we are in the most creative production mindset. Pre-production requires syncing everyone’s schedules, securing gear, locations, and freelancers, as well as preparing wardrobe, MU, and props. We run a tight ship with to-do’s for all parties and that’s how we deliver such consistent projects and experiences for our clients. Our ask is that clients respect the process and help us gather information and confirm along the way.  Let’s make it a win-win scenario.

CAMERA DETAILS

We love camera systems that pack a punch, move the day along with little hesitation and look beautiful. This project has a few variations that we feel the RED Scarlet 5k system will handle best. Being able to switch between 24fps for performances at the standard motion to 48fps for talent and b-roll as well as 120fps for super slow motion all while staying in 4k resolution makes this the camera of choice.

Pairing this with wireless video to the monitor will keep the day moving fast. We're either going to add anamorphic lensing or filtration for the flaring and softness in examples for a top-tier cinematic feel.

LIGHTING

We are keeping the lighting kit simple, lightweight, and packaged for travel. This will keep the project moving fast, allow more creative control, and let everyone work comfortably.

SHOOT DAY

We run our sets on a clean and fast time frame. We ask that clients be respectful of the schedule, but understand that perfection can take time. Work with us, and we will all create the best project. We try to stay on schedule while being open to ideas that can make the project its best.

POST PRODUCTION

Excluded to minimize cost, however, Josh will be available for talking through and helping support the edit.

Take some time to look the full proposal over together, ask questions, and on our next call, we can dig into the nitty-gritty. We can decide which option suits you best and draw up the invoice, contract, and other paperwork needed to make it official during this call.

Once we have an agreement, we officially enter pre-production, setting dates, securing locations, props, gear, team, and all the small things in between.

FEAR CULTURE

"They excel at so many things; it's almost scary.

The amount of planning they put into every project is unmatched.

It's comforting to see how much they care about the project

and how every single detail is thought out well before the shoot date."
